CAMERA OBSCURA & WORLD OF ILLUSIONS: INTERACTIVE FUN IN EDINBURGH

10/10/2018,

“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one” – Albert Einstein

Edinburgh is a fascinating city and such a great destination for families! If you’re traveling to this beautiful city, there is no better place to visit with children than Camera Obscura and World of Illusions. It is not only the city’s oldest attraction (opened in 1835) but also one of the funniest and most original for all ages in Scotland!

Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is located in the city center, at the touristic Royal Mile and right beside the Castle of Edinburgh. The attraction is opened every day (whatever the weather) and provides 5 floors of interactive exhibitions.

The rooftop panorama has probably the most stunning views of the city.

On the rooftop, you can also enjoy the Camera Obscura show, a unique experience that has fascinated people since 1853. From inside this Victorian rooftop chamber, you will be able to see live moving images of the city projected onto a viewing table through a giant periscope.

Our guide entertained us with mysterious stories of Edinburgh’s past. It was the first time that we ever experienced a Camera Obscura Show and we truly loved it. I would suggest experiencing this show when there is plenty of daylight.

The other 5 floors are also truly amazing! You are going to love the optical illusions, colorful games, mazes, rotating tunnels, visual effects, puzzles, hands-on experiences, holograms, tricks…

I would not like to spoil your next visit as the attraction is full of surprises and interactive fun. .Here are some more photos of our favorite exhibitions if you’d like to see!

It is fantastic that kids of all ages can touch everything and get involved in each exhibition. There is so much to enjoy and discover!

You can plan your visit in advance at www.camera-obscura.co.uk.

Also, we truly recommend “The Potter Trail“, the original “Harry Potter Tour” of Edinburgh.
