CERLER: A TOP FAMILY SKI RESORT IN SPAIN
Last Easter, we headed to Cerler, the highest resort in the Aragonese Pyrenees, for a great family break. With 80km of skiable slopes, Cerler has been awarded Spain’s Best Ski Resort for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, and 2016).
Cerler is situated in the Benasque Valley, and it reaches 2.630 meters at its legendary Gallinero summit, giving a vertical drop of 1150 m. Cerler is a resort with extraordinary natural beauty surrounded by more than 60 peaks over 3.000 meters high.
It is an ideal ski resort for families, with a wide range and weekly schedule of activities for all ages.
A 4-seat chair lift provides the main access for the resort, which is distributed along two valleys: Cerler and Ampriu, both linked by chair lifts. Each sector is accessible by road and has a parking area.
The resort provides all the facilities that families with kids might need: restaurants, parking, several ski schools, shops, ski kindergartens (for kids 1-6 years old)…
We booked different group lessons for the family with the Spanish Ski School (Escuela Española de Esquí de Cerler), and we really recommend their services.
Our favorite activity was, without any doubt, Huskyman at the Ampriu sector (you can read here the full post about dog sledding in the Pyrenees).
The resort offers different accommodation possibilities. We stayed at HG Cerler, a modern and charming hotel with huge family rooms and amazing views of the Benasque Valley.
The hotel provides free transport to the slopes (it can be quite stressful in the mornings, so please follow the established timetable), “mini club” activities for children, and a game room with free wi-fi.
It was a wonderful family holiday that made me dream of a “White” Christmas.
