COOKING WITH KIDS: KIDS’ KITCHEN

11/14/2016,

“We have to eat to live; by learning to cook, we also learn to live well” – Fiona Bird.

Do you cook with your kids? Are your kid’s picky eaters? Would you like to learn new recipes? Are you ready to step into the kitchen for some child-friendly fun with food?  I have recently ordered Kids’ Kitchen (edited by Barefoot Books), and I am delighted with this deck containing 40 sturdy cards of recipes.

Written by Fiona Bird and illustrated by Roberta Arenson, Kids’ Kitchen is for all ages and encourages budding chefs to create tasty meals featuring nutritious dishes worldwide.

Some of our favorite recipes are  “picnic kebabs” and “mean green guacamole.”,  They’re simple to make, tasty, and suitable for vegetarians.

I like that the recipes are divided into 5 color-coded categories to reflect the major food groups:  eggs “n” beans, fantastic fruits, milk, “n” dairy, spuds “n” grains, and vital vegetables.

Each card includes simple step-by-step instructions and complete information about making time, ingredients, and beautiful illustrations.

I love that each card includes 2 recommendations: “Wash your hands before you start” and “Always have a grown-up with you when you cook.”

Kids’ Kitchen offers great recipes that kids enjoy making and eating. This product also includes an 8-page booklet with information on nutrition, kitchen safety, and terminology.
