RODAS BEACH WITH KIDS: A DAY IN PARADISE
The Cies Islands are a paradise in Galicia (Spain). Located at the entrance of Ria de Vigo (Vigo’s fiords), it has 9 beautiful beaches, starting with Rodas Beach, the most worldwide know and also awarded by “The Guardian” as the “Best Beach in the world” in 2007.
This is a great day trip with kids. There are several Navieras located at the Estación Martítima in the city of Vigo, with many connections every 30 minutes between Vigo and the Cies Islands. Most of them have special promotions for families (kids normally travel for free), and it is always recommended to book the tickets online in advance. (We organized our trip with Mar de Oms)
The Cies Islands are part of the National Sea and Land Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia since 2002. This paradise is just set between the Atlantic and the Ria de Vigo. This Natural protected area is an incomparable natural paradise that should be visited once in a lifetime.
Rodas Beach is awarded each year with the European Union Blue Flag. Its kilometer-long stretch of sand joins two of the 3 islands (North and Middle), a peculiarity that adds to the beauty of this spot.
The Cies Islands declared an Area of Special Protection for Birds in 1988. The most representative ecosystems in the National Sea and Land Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia are the cliffs, dune systems, marine bottoms, woodlands, and beaches.
