TRAVEL & PHOTOGRAPHY: RED COLLECTION II BY TOMMY SALAS
I am really thrilled to continue our travel & photography series by featuring the second part of the Red Collection.
We travel today to Asia through the extraordinary work of photographer Tommy Salas. Would you like to join me? We will visit India, Myanmar, Indonesia and Laos.
12 photos, 4 Asian countries, 6 Buddhist monks, stunning landscapes, 6 smiling children, fascinating cultures and 12 daily moments captured by this great Spanish photographer.
The artistic process of this elegant Red Collection is really interesting: pictures are taken originally in color, then Tommy Salas transforms them into black & white photos, and finally he makes the original red color stand out.
“If you wait, people will forget your camera, and the soul will drift up into view” – Steve McCurry.
Tommy Salas’ travel photography is influenced by Steve McCurry, Sebastiao Salgado and Jimmy Nelson.
I admire Tommy Salas because he captures in his photos the particular look, character and ambiance of each country.
But above all, I feel that he really knows how to wait as he looks for the unguarded moment, capturing the essential soul on a person’s face. He seems to reveal their essence and truth!
No need to resort to tricks to take photos… You do not have anyone to pose for the camera. The pictures are there, waiting for you to. The truth is the best shot, the best propaganda.” – Robert Capa.
