]]>It all starts with just a simple and special envelope that your brave kid will receive by post and with an inspiring quote: “We need to spread the world with love“.
Inside, the magic continues with the book “Cuando yo lo decida” (when I say so), a hard-book illustrated by Dani Torrent, a talented and experienced kids illustrator for more than 15 years, and written by Macarena Moraña.
“Cuando yo lo decida” is a beautiful history that will help brave kids overcome by themselves any fear (scary monsters, dark places). As it is a personalized book, you can describe any scary situation for your child. This pre-based story can be adapted to your child’s needs and you can include all kinds of personal information: names, photos, inside cover, texts…
Kids will see themselves as the leading role of the book, and will understand that they are brave and kind, and that they have the strength to overcome those fears. The book allows them also to be able to draw what is scary for them.
The book includes this amazing quote by Nelson Mandela: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
Also, you can personalize the dedication of the book, and in our case the book was a gift between our sons. This is in my opinion what really makes Mundo Cronopio special. It is an everlasting gift to those we love. It seems that nowadays only technology can attract our attention, but kids still love to read a good story and they enjoy it even more if they are the leading roles.
I love to find books that pass-on values, that help kids discover their amazing interior power, how brave they are and how they can change their own world.

]]>A former publicist, Elena started to work as an illustrator in 1997. Since then, she has illustrated more than a 100 books that have been edited in Spain, France, United Kingdon, Mexico and Taiwan.
I have long admired Elena Odriozola’s work as she has beautifully illustrated some great children’s books.
“Oda a una estrella” by Pablo Neruda is probably one of my favorites.
You can follow Elena’s creative process at her facebook page and you can also buy some of her great illustrations and figures online.
World Kids would like to congratulate Elena as she has just been awarded with the prestigious “Premio Nacional de Ilustración” given by the Spanish Culture Ministry. Congratulations Elena!

]]>It is hard to describe such a fascinating book. The illustrations by Christopher Corr, a London-based painter, are full of color, details and life.
Fred Penner, the UNICEF Canada spokesman, is a wonderful singer for this great green book that rejoices in the marvels of our world: “The world is yours to take care of, so sing around the planet”.
The beautiful song of the book was originally written by African American pianist and composer Margaret Bonds. “He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands!” is very well known as a gospel spiritual.
The book also includes lots of facts about the Earth’s ecosystems, and wonderful tips for you and your children on how to reduce Global Warming and be eco-conscious.
This global sing-along also features an enhanced CD with audio and video animation of the story, which makes it a great gift for any child.

]]>I regret that most of my childhood books were not saved from our different moving purges, but my kids have been very lucky to keep at least some of my brother’s old books and his comic collection.
Our ever-growing collection of over 300 children’s books is displayed partially in our kids’ room and keeps growing slowly: my kids receive many books as birthday gifts or in any other significant occasion, and I loved my role as Barefoot Books Ambassador
If you are interested in tips and reviews, I would strongly recommend Caryn’s blog: Three Books a Night. It is one of my favorite blogs ever. She will convince you, and hopefully the rest of the world, of the loveliness of picture books.
