With a Computer Science degree, it all started at the end of 2010 when Macarena built a toy kitchen out of pallets for her own children, and published the result in her blog, when all of a sudden she began receiving orders.
What initially was an entertainment for her, has now become her passion and her way of living. In 2013 she builds her workshop, and currently she exports her products internationally (worldwide, to more than 15 countries)
There is no doubt whatsoever that the most wanted product of Macarena´s whole catalogue is her kitchen.
Macarena offers three different sizes in her kitchens, in order to suit any space or any age: Pettite, 50 cm; Bam, 60 cm; and Gulliver, 70 cm.
But, what makes her kitchens so special, is that there are not 2 alike. Macarena creates custom made kitchen that can suit any customer’s demand (parent or child), so each kitchen is really an unique piece.
You can see the excitement in every kitchen made by Macarena Bilbao, each detail is carefully hand made, enviromentally friendly and customized to every client´s taste.
All the manufacturing is enviromentally friendly, and each toy is made with FSC (Forest Stewardship Counsil) pine boards form controlled forests. Also, the paints used are water based with low VOC levels.
Macarena is now very excited with her new challenge: a doll house that is now designing in collaboration with interior designer Rebeca Terrón. Although still a prototype, we will soon find it in her catalogue.

]]>The Red Pencil is a charity that brings the power of Arts Therapy to children, adults and families, with a particular attention to those facing overwhelming life circumstances for which they have no words. The Red Pencil transforms their lives through Art Therapy.
Created in 2011 in Singapore, they develop over 50 projects per year, partnering with 55 organizations (The Singapore Red Cross, Doctors without borders, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital to name a few) and with 6.000 beneficiaries from low income families. They also develop many projects in the Asia Pacific Region, with more that 1.500 beneficiaries. From New Zealand to Japan, from Lebanon to Sri Lanka, from Australia to Cambodia, their work is extraordinary.
The Red Pencil believes in the healing process of art:
– Children use pencils and colors -before they can speak and write- to express their feelings, thoughts and ideas.
– Words are often inadequate for children to express tough experiences
– Art will give those children an alternative way to channel those emotions.
– Drawing allows all these children to express those sufferings, release, relief and healing.

The workshop just requires some simple materials that we all have at home.
It is very inspiring to see how just three colors and a simple circle form is used in such creative ways, including flying circles.
It was an hour of pure fun!

Garabato is the Spanish word for doodle, and Rita uses this extraordinary book to start her class. Created by the Pedagogic Department of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, it explores doodles through art history, including works by Spanish artists like Antonio Saura or Antoni Tàpies. Garabato teaches children the importance of drawing and how great painters have used this same technique in extraordinary ways.
Rita María Noguera conducts this workshop using very simple materials, letting the children use them in a creative way with fascinating results.
It is very difficult to resume Rita’s classes, so I trully recommend that you enjoy with your kids some of her workshops.
