STUDIO STAMP: INTERIOR DESIGN IN MELBOURNE

12/12/2018,

Alexis Reid and Sophie Gunnersen are the dream team behind interior design firm Studio Stamp. After living, working and learning design in Europe and South America, they joined forces in 2009 and founded Studio Stamp in Melbourne. They define themselves as “country girls at heart, with a passion for interiors with soul”.

Their projects combine unique architectural features, enduring sophistication, a flawless use of light, colorful textures, relaxed atmospheres, kid-friendly spaces, treasures inspired by travel and bold artwork.

Today we travel to Melbourne to interview this talented duo, whose personal style is embraced in each project: “Sophie’s is raw and real while Lex is all about textures, layering, and silhouettes”.

World Kids: How would you describe the style of Studio Stamp?

Studio Stamp:  We use unique pieces to create spaces that are both fun and refined, not overly curated but timeless.

How has living in Europe and South America – and now Australia-  influenced your aesthetics?

It has given us a broader scope and love for various styles, design, and architecture. We have a capacity to blend new with old and create interiors that speak about the person living within the space.  Australian style is definitely more relaxed and we like to have open spaces with an emphasis on light.

Where do you find inspiration for your projects?

Street style, fashion, travel, art, and people.

What does your home say about your family?

We love to bring people together, kitchens become the hub of our homes, we have fun with entertaining and bringing color and laughter into our space.

You are based in Melbourne. What do you love more about this city? Which restaurants, museums, places, stores… would you recommend to families visiting your city?

We love living by the beach,  fish and chips on St Kilda Beach, the parks and the lakes , endless amounts of delicious restaurants our favorite is Di Stasio in St Kilda, we love Filly and Stable in Albert Park for fabulous clothes and accessories , Jocks ice creams for the kids (and us) The Melbourne and Werribee zoo are amazing , Collingwood Children’s farm  and Science works, and we love to shop at CouCou baby for beautiful kids clothes.
