THE WORLD OF WHALES

“A world without dolphins and whales isn’t much of a world at all” – Ric O’Barry

Written by Darcy Dobell and illustrated by Becky Thorns, “The World of Whales” is one of the most beautiful picture books ever printed. Published by Little Gestalten, the book is the perfect introduction to get children (ages 5+) to get to know the giants of the ocean.

“The World of Whales” is a 74-page non-fiction picture book that dives into an exploration of these majestic mammals, revealing mind-blowing facts and taking kids on an adventurous journey through the ocean.

“The World of Whales” describes one of the most fascinating animal species on the planet: their evolution, species, habits, their link to human history, and how they communicate. It also features information about whale research, plastic pollution, and a complete glossary.

A few years ago, I published the article “Inspiring kids to love the ocean,” in which I wondered if we will ever listen to the awakening calls from nature. My only hope back then, and still now, is that we continue to spread the love for nature and inspire our children to love the ocean and understand our natural world. We live on a fragile planet and I am afraid we will not be able to make a global change on time. “The World of Whales” is a great way to inspire kids to love the ocean. I could not think of a better reading for those long summer days by the beach where you marvel at the beauty of our planet.

But above all, this subaquatic expedition is a love letter to the vast oceans and the extraordinary sea life of our planet and a tribute to those that work to protect our seas.
