THE STORY ORCHESTRA: FOUR SEASONS IN ONE DAY
“Four Seasons in One Day” is an original musical book that presents to children “The Four Seasons” (in Italian Le Quattro Stagioni) by Antonio Vivaldi.
Written by Katie Cotton, beautifully illustrated by Jessica Courtney-Tickle, and edited by Quarto Books, “Four Seasons in One Day” follows one girl and her dog as they adventure through the four seasons in just one day.
The way this book adapts Vivaldi’s music is extraordinary. Through the story, children on every page can press a music sign (eighth note) and listen to movements of the original musical piece.
The story and illustrations are perfectly paired with a total of 10 movements from this composition, one of the most beautiful and famous works in classical music history, easily recognized by all.
Reading the book and listening to its music is a sensory experience for the children, as the movements evoque the natural sounds of each season: flowing creeks, singing birds, storms, and warm winter fires.
The book also includes a short biography of the composer, a glossary with some basic musical terms, and a lyrical description of the ten movements heard through the book.
“Four Seasons in One day” is part of ”The Story Orchestra” series. This amazing collection presents to children great works of classical music (including famous music compositions, operas, and ballets) by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Saint-Säens.

Music has been proved to have numerous positive effects on children’s development and health, and I cannot think of a better way to introduce great music works to children.
Bravo The Story Orchestra!
