A WHITE CHRISTMAS AT SKI RESORT FORMIGAL

01/03/2019,

I would like to start this post sending you my best wishes for this New Year!

Speaking of Christmas… I am pleased to share some photos from the White Christmas that we spent two years ago at the Spanish Formigal ski resort.

Formigal (this ski resort is also known as Aramón Formigal-Panticosa) is located in the Tena Valley (Alto Aragón, Spanish Pyrenees) and is truly beautiful.

We loved skiing in Cerler (you can read the full post in this link). As Cerler is not far away from Formigal we thought it would be fun to return to this area of the Pyrenees and enjoy another ski resort.

It was totally a great choice as Formigal-Panticosa is also a very family-friendly ski resort.

With its 141 km of skiable slopes, there are several options for families and a wide range of activities exclusively for children.

In Formigal, there is a great Snow Garden for small children where they can take their very first ski lessons (I would recommend booking in advance since places are limited).

Here are some photos of our white Christmas holidays in Formigal, hoping that our experience might help you plan your holidays in this ski resort.

For our stay, we choose Hotel HG Alto Aragón, a modern mountain hotel located in the highest part of Formigal.

Our family room was spacious and had a terrace with excellent views of the ski station and the Valle de Tena.

This hotel offers many services for families: 24-hour reception, a great buffet restaurant (with show cooking), a wonderful spa where children are welcome, “Miniclub,” game room, car parking, a convenient laundry room, free transfers to the ski slopes, a huge ski locker room attached to the reception and a practical a ski gear rental shop in the same lobby. We had a wonderful stay!

We booked different group lessons for the family with the Spanish Ski School (Escuela Española de Esquí de Formigal), and we really recommend their services.

We usually ate at “Anayet” for lunch because it was really close to our kids’ class pick-up point, but Formigal offers an exceptional range of good restaurants.

If you like “tapas,” you might be interested in skiing in February at this ski resort, as you can participate in a competition in which each bar serves its best tapas so you can sample them and vote for your favorite. Sounds like a perfect plan!

Happy 2019!
