KIMCHEE RESTAURANT: AUTHENTIC KOREAN CUISINE IN LONDON

12/03/2015,

After some Christmas shopping in London, I enjoyed an amazing Korean full dining experience at Kimchee restaurant, right in the heart of London and just a few minutes walking from Covent Garden.

I strongly recommend Kimchee restaurant if you want to enjoy a unique taste of Korea with your family in London. You can experience the fascinating culture Korea in one of the most authentic ways possible- through its cuisine!

Korean food is largely undiscovered compared to its Thai and Japanese counterparts, yet it is fast gaining popularity in London.  The Korean cuisine is famous for being hot and spicy, having an array of unique and delicious flavours, and also being very healthy.

The story of this amazing restaurant is quite interesting:  Kimchee originated from Mr Kim’s vision to bring his native Korean food to London. Having noticed a gap in the market for good quality Korean restaurants in London, he wanted to introduce British people to the wonderful flavours of Korean cuisine at a reasonable price.

The name “Kimchee”, one of Korea’s national dishes, is the most popular accompaniment to any meal. Kimchee accompanies almost every meal along with a big bowl of rice and plenty of other side dishes. Typical Korean side dishes tend to include soups, stews and a variety of vegetable or meat dishes. Koreans typically order food for the whole table to share, tapas style. With many dishes made for sharing, this makes dinning ocassions a vibrant family gathering.

As Koreans love also their BBQ food, this is a staple feature of Kimchee. They have an open-plan kitchen and charcoal BBQ serving delicious meat and fish dishes.

Kimchee’s interior is sleek and stylish with a modern twist, while also maintaining a real sense or Korean authenticity.

I ordered UDON TOFU: stir -fried thick noodles and vegetables with lightly battered tofu served in a rich, sweet soy sauce. Delicious!
